Most Marvel movies lately have been more about epic stories about saving the earth, so it's a bit of a refreshing change for a movie like "Ant-Man" to scale down that saving the earth story. There's a bit more focus on the characters here, combined with the heist caper aspect of the plot. The movie is well paced, and I thought just about all the comedic moments were spot on.

What really worked the best here are the characters of Scott Lang; played by Paul Rudd, and Hank Pym; played by Michael Douglas. Both of them were fantastic here! Their chemistry together and all their witty banter were just terrific. If there was one character that really stole every scene he was in though, it would be Michael Pena as Luis, who was given almost nothing but funny scenes to play in.

Going into this movie, I thought the biggest issue might be the ants itself, as I'm not that fond of insects in the first place. Thankfully, the ants were overall actually kinda adorable in their own way. Not everything completely worked out though, as there were some plot conveniences to overlook, and the overall additions of tying parts of the story to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can get distracting.

The premise and concept of "Ant-Man" may not seem appealing at first, but this movie made it work big time. The key factor here is that this is overall a fun movie. Lots of fun. Go see it!
