POSITIVES...
- Those who like all things hip-hop related, from up and coming rappers trying to break the scene, appearances by artists like Wiz Khalifa or French Montana, to websites like WorldStarHipHop, should get a kick out of this movie.
- The general premise is basically the “one crazy night” scenario, with a touch of John Hughes. Enjoyable enough for what it is.
- There is some style and flair to the direction that keeps things interesting to watch.
- I liked the character of Owen; as played by artist Kyle, and was genuinely interested with where he would end up at the end of the story.
NEGATIVES....
- I didn’t like the character of Jeff that much and found him too annoying (even though I’m sure that was the point). Harrison Holzer played the role well enough I suppose.
- The subplot involving Alicia, played by Shelley Hennig, was just too patronizing and diminishes the worth of her character in likely unintentional ways.
- Personally, I take issue in how the women were represented here, and I wished there was more character development given to them.
- The overall story kinda goes all over the place a lot, with logic and reality be damned.
