POSITIVES…
As a love letter to video games and 1980s adventure flicks, I really appreciated the work that was put into making this indie-movie. Deserves to be a cult classic for geeks all around.
Really liked the premise, the narrative visual tricks, and the ideas they threw into some of the scenes.
Fun meta humor, silly pop culture references, and surprise cameos by actors any self-proclaimed geek should get a kick seeing them show up in this movie.
Greg Grunberg and Joseph Reitman are the MVP of this film. They were great!
Allowing the movie to completely indulge itself into letting Kevin Smith just completely take over the scenes he is in.
NEGATIVES…
Has to be said, but I wished it had a bigger budget that could have resulted in a better production value.
I suppose it can be blamed to the homages, but expect the usual plot cliches and conveniences.
The lead characters aren’t as likeable as they probably should have been.
