POSITIVES…
Premise of the story felt like the Breakfast Club, meets the Haunting Of Hill House, crossed with the X-Men. I’m fine with that.
I liked that there’s a horror thriller element to the movie.
Fans of this property should get some fun with the references to the books and the overall FOX X-Men movie franchise.
Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar was really good in this.
The subplot between Danielle Moonstar and Maisie Williams’ Rahne Sinclair was the heart of this movie to get behind with.
Anya Taylor-Joy stood out well as the hateable bad girl Illyana Rasputin. She gets your attention with the things she says and does.
The third act was where most of the budget went. More of that please.
NEGATIVES…
It’s generally small in scope with a modest budget, so I hope you weren’t expecting the grand special effects bonanza of superpowers.
This is a movie featuring teenagers squabbling with each other. Yeah, that can get annoying.
Kinda boring for some parts.
Most of the characters felt too underwritten.
