POSITIVES…
The man from the past in modern times story is a likeable premise.
Gimmick of having Seth Rogen playing against himself works pretty well.
Tonally, I appreciated the mix of silliness and melancholy.
The opening scene in the 1800s that is completely shown in 4x3 aspect ratio, is absolutely amusing and oh so charming.
I like where the jokes that spawned from the Twitter plot line went.
As idiotic as the movie can get, I felt like it’s heart was in the right place.
NEGATIVES…
That opening scene that I liked a lot? It’s the best scene of the movie. Nothing else tops that.
The whole contrasting themes between modern sensibilities versus the working hard values of an older generation hits you over the head a little too much.
There’s a huge plot turn that drives the rest of the movie, that I honestly wished it didn’t go there.
Some absurd illogical plot points that really pushes your suspension of disbelief.
P.S….
