POSITIVES
Fascinating provocative premise that'll give you something to really think about.
Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga are fantastic in this. Together in a scene? Amazing. They truly carry the movie.
Good supporting cast as well that adds immensely to the film, which includes André Holland, Bill Camp, and Alexander Skarsgård.
The look of the film and the musical score (or lack thereof) really creates the perfect tone and mood to such a delicate story.
Interesting conversations and subject matters that say a lot thematically, whether overtly or subtlety.
NEGATIVES
A black & white film with a 4x3 aspect ratio? This might not be for everyone's taste.
Some might find the heavy themes and commentary about racism to be seen as a little too heavy handed.
Not exactly a fast moving movie, so do put up with it's slow careful pacing. So for that matter, I hope you don't get bored.
There are moments that seemed a bit unbelievable to me, or the movie didn't do enough to help me understand it.
I get that the musical score (or lack thereof) is purposefully implemented in the way they did for this movie, but it can feel a bit lacking at times.
