POSITIVES…
This story is made for hopeless romantics and especially those who are experiencing young love as a teenager.
Speaking of whom, teenagers all over will appreciate one of the central themes of this movie.
In fact, I really loved one particular monologue Lili Reinhart makes in the library on that topic.
There are many scenes of dialogue that are scattered throughout the story that are pretty good to listen to, and I especially enjoyed the ones that explains emotions in a scientific fashion.
Austin Abrams and Lili Reinhart are good in their roles, and carried the whole movie very well.
Appreciated the attempt at portraying teenagers and young love in a more realistic view.
NEGATIVES…
Kinda melodramatic and pretentious at times.
While it tries to do the young romance genre a little differently, the plot still falls back to some familiar cliches and conveniences when I wished it wouldn’t.
I’m going to say that it isn’t because of some preconceived biases, but I really couldn’t see Austin Abrams and Lili Reinhart as a couple at all.
